Nature's Wonders: Breathtaking Wildlife Encounters in the Heart of Vermont

Hello Reader,

Happy summer!

I've been having some amazing encounters with wildlife lately, which is one of the many things that I love about living in Vermont.
I wanted to share them with you here.

Today I was giving one of my food and farm tours and we saw a black bear about 20 feet down the road. Wow!
That was my first bear siting in the 23 years that I've lived here.

Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me, so I don't have a picture.

Last week, as I was coming up the road from the farm to our house, I saw this:

Then a few weeks back, my partner, Dave, took the dogs out to the bathroom early one morning and saw this (and called me over):

And, shortly before the moose, this gal showed up in the driveway, and oddly walked all the way over to our dog's fenced in bathroom area, crawled under the fence, where I found her when I took the dogs out to relieve themselves. She is a snapping turtle!
Thankfully, they didn't see her and she was quite mellow. We promptly and gently scooted her back out.

As a former NYC girl, I have such an appreciation for living in Vermont for many reasons (except the taxes).
Getting to see a breathtaking landscape year round feeds my soul.
Connecting with plants and animals is incredibly joyful for me.

We get to hear the peepers and other frogs starting in the spring, watch the fireflies dance all summer long, then the crickets join in. There are lots of songbirds and hawks--I've seen a few eagles too. Turkey vultures are creepy but cool.

What kind of wildlife are you seeing where you live?

On a separate note, if you or someone you know has been through a brain tumor experience and would like to connect with others who have been through something similar, spend time with me on our Vermont organic farm, play with horses who can teach you so much about yourself and how you show up, eat farm fresh food, learn about medicinal herbs and other holistic lifestyle tools that might help you to thrive rather than just survive, then check out this retreat I'm offering in September. Please spread the word to those who might benefit from this healthy reset.

Be well,

Amy
